About me.

I am a London based designer and seamstress specialising in bespoke bridal and occasion wear and original vintage restoration and alterations. With nearly 20 years’ experience in the bridal and fashion industry, I have a strong knowledge of fabric, garment construction and fashion history.

My little home studio in South East London is a magpie’s nest filled to the rafters with vintage lace, beads, sumptuous fabrics, and other treasures just waiting for their new life.

I enjoy working together with a client on a one-one basis, to create beautiful, unique and very high quality handmade gowns and also altering ‘off the peg’ garments whilst providing a friendly and personal service.

As a little girl I dreamed of becoming a bridal wear designer and inspired by my mum and grandmothers dressmaking skills, I started designing and making garments at a young age.

Originally from London, I moved to Dorset when I was a teenager and went on to study Textiles at A.level. I then studied Design Photography at Exeter College and The University of Plymouth where I gained a BA Hons in 2005. I concentrated on the female form as a photographic subject, made costumes and created set designs and props and wrote about the history of fashion for my final year dissertation.

After completing my degree I worked in several positions within the fashion and bridal industry, before taking the leap and becoming a self-employed designer and seamstress in 2008.

I relocated back to London in 2010 and my experiences of rural and beach-side life combined with big-city-living give an individual aesthetic to my design work.

Alongside creating my own commissioned garments and pieces for individuals clients, I have worked with various companies including One Night Stand dress hire, Heavenly Vintage Bride, Ticklers London and Catherine Deane.

I have created various costumes for theatre productions and companies including The Matthew Jones Orchestra production of Edith Piaf , The Concert, narrated by June Brown, a costume for ‘Tallulah’ in an amateur dramatics production of Bugsy Malone and carried out repairs for the National Army Museum, London. I have also styled and altered garments and gowns for a number of high profile celebrities and actors for big award shows.

I’m currently designing a collection of vintage influenced bespoke gowns and curating my ‘Gathered Collection’ of eco-friendly salvaged gowns and garments that will soon be stocked in a number of stores across the UK. To see a sneak peak of the collection click here.
